Role model

Among the princess's we talked about in class I think Merida is the best role model for girls. There are lots and lots of princess's that we talked about but why Merida? Merida is the youngest of the princess's but I still think Merida is a good role model. I'm going to talk about the reasons I picked Merida.
First, Merida is very brave. How do I know she's brave? Well first of all the movie title is 'brave'. It wouldn't be put like that if she wasn't brave. Also she loves archery, and she wants to change her fate. You might think bravery isn't that important and it doesn't really matter if you're brave or not. But is that true? Brave means willing to do things which are dangerous, and does not show fear in difficult or dangerous situations. If you don't have bravery, you can't go forward. If you fear everything that you thing doesn't fit with you or dangerous, you can't make any progress. That's why I think bravery is a important part we can learn from Merida.
Secondly, I think Merida is a good role model because of her loving of freedom. Of course it is bad to just think about your freedom and ignore all responsibilities but having no freedom is more worse. Loving of freedom is a good think we should learn from Merida. I think that you have unlimited possibilities when you are free. On the other hand, if you are tied up with rules and restrictions, you will never be able to fly high. Merida is very loving for freedom. She doesn't like her responsibilities, and hates her princess duties. Anyways freedom is another think why Merida is a good role model.
Bravery and freedom, she has everything that is a important option in our lives. Even though she's unlike any other princess's, she has more things we can learn and that is why I think Merida, among all the princess's we talked during class is the best role model for girls.

Brave

Today I'm going to talk about a movie I watched recently. It's called 'Brave'.  Well in Korea we call it 'Merida and the magic forest'. Brave is about a princess, who doesn't like being a princess. Could you imagine it? You're the all mighty princess and how could you not want to be a princess? Lots of you who at least once dreamed of being a princess wouldn't be able to understand this. Even though my dream is not a princess(considering that I'm a boy), I couldn't understand either. But this movie is not just about some princess  who doesn't want to be a princess, but it's a movie about a princess who wants to change her fate, and the lessons she learns during this process.
This is where we wonder. 'Change your fate? Is that even possible?'. We can get the answer from the meaning of fate. Fate means something that unavoidably befalls a person. Here we need to focus on the word, unavoidably. It means it's going to come to you what ever you do. Fate is something you can not change. What ever you do it will always come to you, but Merida tries to change her fate. She goes to the witch and asks her to give her something that would change her fate. But that ended up changing her mom into a bear. Her life became more complicated and tangled up after she went to the witch to try and change her fate. Watching this movie, I realized that fate is not just a thing I could change whenever I want. Wouldn't it be horrible if you could foresee the future? You know peoples fate but you can not change it. Fate is something you have to accept,  not something you try to change. If you try changing your fate, you'll just waste your life and accept your fate anyways. Merida at the end accepted her fate and admitted her wrong and was able to change her mother back into a human. I think that changing your fate just brings more tragedy.
Admitting our wrong were another part of this movie that we should learn from. As I said before, Merida was able to change her mother back into a human by admitting her wrong. She hugged her mom ( the bear ) and cried, repeating sorry again and again. And then she said 'It's all my fault.' That is how her mom became a normal person again. While watching this scene, I thought about myself. Of course I say sorry after I do something wrong, but when did I ever feel really sorry and admitted my wrong totally? When I was young, when I get punished in school, I would first go like ' It wasn't my fault!' or 'He did it first!' or stuff like that. When I grew older, I changed a bit. When I get punished in school, I just stand there saying nothing and I really regret what I did for at least that moment. After that, I just act like I was never punished. I don't regret what I did anymore and I just erase the thoughts about me getting punished because it might ruin the whole day. When did I ever admit my wrong and regret what I did like Merida? When did I ever feel so sorry I couldn't stop regretting? The last scene made me think of what I did in the past and what I shall do now. If I just admit my wrong and regret it for a long time, I will never make the same mistake again.
This movie was very different from all the princess movies I've seen through out my life. The biggest reason is the princess herself. She doesn't have calm blond hair like any princess movies, but she has red curly hair. You would not know she was a princess if you just saw her alone in the woods, carrying a bow.  For my conclusion, I just want to say that this movie was very inetresting and fun. It is fun to watch the exciting story lines, but it is also fun to trying to find out and learn the lessons that the movie is secretly telling you.

Adults also have something to learn from children

Could children teach adults? I saw an interesting video in TED. A young girl named Adora Svitak spoke about why children have lots of things to teach adults and why children are better than adults. She said that children don't think about limits, and she talked about bad things that happened because of adults, such as the World War 2 .Some children did great things, such as Anne Frank. She said 'You must lend an ear today, because we will be the leader tomorrow'. She also said that children should be able to be better adults than the adults now.  I agree with her thoughts that children are the leaders of the next generation.

First, children don't know any limits. We all once dreamed of stuff that is impossible when we were young. When I was young(well I'm still young but like when I was in kindergarten) I dreamed of being a Power Ranger when I grew up. There's no limitation to a child's imagination. That's why children have unlimited possibilities.

Secondly, there are lots of children who made a change to the world so adults are not the only people who could change the world. Anne Frank touched everyone's heart just with her diary. She was only a child. On the other hand, there are lots of problems that adults have caused.

This is why I think children are the leaders of the next generation and that adults have something to learn from children. Finishing this post I would like to repeat this phrase one more time. ' You must lend an ear today, because we will be the leader tomorrow.'

My 30 days challenge

I saw a TV program once and there were some intresting stuff that I would like to share. It was something about the 30 days challenge. The guy in the program said that 30 days is just the right amount of time to do something. He went to work riding a bike everyday, he wrote a novel, and he climbed the Kilimanjaro mountian in 30days. This made me think of doing my own 30days challenge in this GLPS camp. So I thought of  a habit that I wanted to stop. And I thought I should not curse during the whole GLPS camp which is for 30days. I didn't curse till 4th grade but once I started cursing, it became a habit. So I think I should stop cursing for at least 30days. That would be my 30days challenge. Not cursing for the rest of GLPS camp.
